Founded in 1992, Analytik-Service GmbH (since 2021 Analytik-Service AG) – ASG for short – is a testing laboratory accredited by DAkkS based in Neusäß near Augsburg. Since the beginning, both fossil and regenerative fuels have been the focus. In addition to standard and special analysis for liquid, solid and gaseous fuels, the company’s range of services also includes the production of test fuels and quality assurance materials, the implementation of REACH-relevant investigations (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) of chemicals for submission to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and the construction of analytical instruments.
In recent years, ASG has successfully completed a wide variety of master’s and doctoral theses. This made it possible to adapt methods such as two-dimensional gas chromatography(GCxGC-TOFMS, GCxGC-FID) for the analysis of fuels. In addition to the gas chromatographic methods, a large number of other analytical instruments such as ICP-MS, ICP-OES, voltammetry, XRF, etc. are also available. This makes it possible to completely characterize complex mixtures of substances comprising present trace components.
In addition to the analytical questions, ASG is also dedicated to the optimization of chemical processes in a specially designed pilot unit. Among other things, projects with partners from research and industry for the conversion of renewable raw materials into so-called “e-fuels” are also being conducted on there.
Finally, ASG contributes its expertise to national and international standardization committees for the standardization of test methods and requirements standards.
What does ASG Analytik-Service AG stand for?
Under the guiding principle “Smart solutions for your sustainable success. – Lösungen, die bewegen.”, we have been supporting companies from the fuel and chemical industries since 1992. Originally focused on classic fuel analyses, today we not only operate as a DAkkS-accredited laboratory, but also see ourselves as a service provider and partner in analytics, process engineering development and device development. Our aim is to promote customer-specific developments, to provide assistance in analysis and process development and to think outside the box through innovative customer projects.
On which central business pillars is ASG's service portfolio based?
Our portfolio is based on four closely interlinked departments: accredited standard analysis including tailor-made special analysis for research and development, specialized equipment construction, our Miniplant LAB for process scaling, and the test fuels and QC materials division.
What specific analytical spectrum can be called up at ASG?
We carry out physicochemical analyses for liquid, solid and gaseous fuels, as well as hydrocarbons. Our scope of services covers routine parameters for quality assurance as well as REACH-relevant investigations for submission to ECHA. How do you ensure standard-compliant analysis of established biogenic and fossil fuels?
As a DAkkS-accredited testing laboratory, we ensure the highest methodological precision through the application of national and international quality standards. Do you also offer testing methods for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and complex recycling streams?
For Sustainable Aviation Fuels, we analyze according to ASTM D7566. In addition to fuel analysis, we also investigate complex recycling products, such as the plastic pyrolysis oils according to ASTM D8519. The analysis of regenerative basic and specialty chemicals using specially developed methods can also be offered.
How does ASG support the experimental support and scaling of new process engineering developments beyond the laboratory scale?
For the scale-up process from pure laboratory synthesis to production-related plants, we operate a dedicated Miniplant LAB. The Miniplant LAB infrastructure acts as an operational link between process engineering research and upscaling. We are also happy to take on analytical challenges or research samples that do not yet conform to specifications or represent intermediates.
